Photographer Peter Shell sent me some pictures he took last summer during our survey  of the Ledges Area for my article  for Ancient America. Here are a few.

Public Comment Period, New Website

The New York State Dec (Department of Environmental Conservation) has recently opened a public comment period for the Unit plan for the Canandaigua Highlands Unit, which includes Italy Hill State Forest and High Tor Wildlife Management Area. High Tor is located at the southern end of Canandaigua Lake, in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. We see this as an opportunity to get added protections for the hundreds of stone mounds and thousands of related single stones at High Tor. I ask that you please consider contacting the DEC (Comments can be emailed to R8.UMP@dec.ny.gov)

I just recently found out about this. Several of us that regularly visit the sacred stones structures at high Tor have gotten together and purchased a domain name, (www.hightor.org.) I hope to have the website up an running shortly. Because High  Tor is a wildlife management area  it already has in some additional restrictions.
